(N) Zarepta's is a small Maine Coon-cattery located in the North of Norway. We live in Bodø, a small town about 100 miles north of the Arctic Circle.
Our goal is to breed healthy and well typed cats with good temper. The aspiration is to gain genetic diversity.
We test our breed cats for HD and HCM.
For the time being we have 2 females — one black smoke born in March 2006, and a brown mackerel tabby born in September same year.
We also have a domestic cat, a 7 year old neuter.

-Why Maine Coon?
We have had 2 domestics earlier. Big, with long fur.
Our first was Lurven. He came to us in summer 1988. Then it was Simba, who came from Tromsø at Christmas 2004, 2 years old.
Lurven died of age in March 2006, nearly 18 years old! Unfortunately Simba was killed by a car just a couple of moths later.
Suddenly there were no cats in the house, and we soon found out that we had to fill the gap.
While searching for domestic kittens, the thought of breeds occurred. From the looks of our earlier cats, we assumed that they were mix of Norwegian Forest Cat.
However, Simba was very special both in size and personality, and we began to wonder if he could have been of another mix. After searching the Internet for a while, we discovered the Maine Coon, a race that was unknown to us. We were immediately fascinated by the size, the wild look and the description of the coon's personality. We recognized most of Simba's way of being in the description of this breed.
We'll never know which mix Simba was, but the fascination for the "Gentle Giant" was awakened.
